Michelle Bender is Legal Counsel at Ocean Vision Legal, the first law firm worldwide entirely specialising in Marine Protection. Michelle created, and is the leading expert in the movement towards, “Ocean Rights”, an ecocentric framework to protect and restore Ocean health. Her Ocean Rights ebook is available on Amazon, and she has authored/co-authored chapters in ‘United Nations: A Better World Vol. 6, Transforming our Relationship with the Ocean – changing values to ensure conservation’, and ‘Sustainability and Rights of Nature’; CRC Press. Michelle is also on the Advisory Board for the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN). In 2018 she was named one of the fifteen “Youth Ocean Leaders” by Sustainable Ocean Alliance at the World Ocean Summit and, in 2017, was accepted as a member of the IUCN’s World Commission on Environmental Law.
