Dr Vivien Cumming is an award-winning documentary director and producer and Nature-published climate scientist. After postdoctoral research at Harvard, Viv turned to storytelling, using film to raise awareness of environmental and humanitarian issues and the importance of our connection with the natural world. Viv runs a company, Science Stories, that produces films and campaigns for NGOs, scientists, and the media, working with Earthrise Studio, Cambridge University, Oxford University, The Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, UNICEF, the British Antarctic Survey and the International Ocean Discovery Program who she documented an expedition to Antarctica with for the BBC. Viv conceived and produced the acclaimed short films; ‘The Ghost Rainforest’ and ‘We Are Antarctica’. Her films have been screened at BAFTA & BIFA qualifying film festivals, at COP Climate Change conferences and the UN, and her work has been published by the BBC and National Geographic. She is currently producing a feature-length documentary for Windfall Films and developing a film about the campaign to give Rights for Nature for Antarctica.
