Rachel Bustamante is an Ocean Science and Policy Analyst at Earth Law Center, specialising in marine biodiversity conservation science and policy at species and oceanic ecosystem levels. She underscores the pivotal role of values and ethics in shaping conservation efforts, particularly in the context of shark protection and restoration. Her research has been featured in PLOS Biology, and she is the author of the recent publication “Beyond Protection: Recognizing Nature’s Rights to Conserve Sharks” in Sustainability. As a Gen Z advocate in marine conservation, she is dedicated to transforming our relationship with marine species and the Ocean as a whole to safeguard the planet.
